In 2009, our family purchased a beautiful property with 3 acres on the Souhegan River in  Merrimack, NH. The property came with a small ranch home built in the 1950s. While the  existing home was charming, it wasn't meeting our needs. We wanted to enhance the  property further, so in 2010, we decided to build a barn and reached out to Brett Vaughn. Barn Project Success: Brett's approach was exactly what we were looking for. He guided  us through every option, ultimately helping us create a stunning Shiplap Post and Beam  Barn, approximately 50 x 38 feet. The barn included three double-deep garage bays, a work  area, and an upstairs office. Brett’s attention to detail, including the addition of a beautiful  copula, gave the barn an authentic New England touch. The project was completed on a  cost-plus basis, allowing us to stay within budget while making adjustments as needed.  Brett handled everything from permits to subcontractors, ensuring the project progressed  smoothly and on time. Home Renovation Success: Inspired by the success of the barn, we decided to renovate  the old ranch house in 2014. Initially, we considered a modest roof-raising project but,  under Brett's guidance, opted for a more extensive renovation. Brett proposed leveling the  main body of the old house while retaining the basement level and foundation. He then  constructed a modern, two-story Cape-style home with a spacious master bedroom suite,  additional bedrooms and a loft upstairs, and a living room annex. We also added a two-car  garage with a bonus room above. Again, Brett’s cost-plus approach gave us the flexibility to  adjust the plan as the project evolved, and his transparency ensured there were no  unpleasant surprises. The result was a beautiful, spacious Cape home that perfectly  complemented our new barn.
